**Important Considerations**
- KNOWN DOWNGRADE ISSUE: Downgrading from Blackbird Beta II to 6.2.x (or lower) while saving settings will cause issues in the X1 index that prevent the application from launching. If you plan to downgrade from Blackbird Beta, uninstall the X1 client WITHOUT saving settings.
- Remember that we always advise that you uninstall any currently installed version of X1, without saving your settings/preferences, before installing any beta build
- Please restrict all comments regarding this release to this section of the forum
- Any user upgrading from 5.5.5 or previous will be required to rebuild their index files.

New Features (available on the X1 eDiscovery Client)
The X1 eDiscovery Client is a new version of the X1 Professional Client designed for the electronic legal services market. Contact sales at sales@x1.com for a trial of the X1 eDiscovery Client.

Tag Pane
- Apply tags to files, emails, contacts, calendar and task items indexed with the X1 Client.
- Apply tags to files and PST emails indexed with the X1 Server.
- Manage the tag list by adding/removing tags via the tag pane right click menu.
- Add/remove folders to organize the tag list via drag and drop in the tag pane.
- Resize/collapse/expand the tag pane to fit your work area.
- To tag an item, select the item in the X1 results list, click on the tag check box, then hit apply.
- To tag multiple items, select the items in the X1 results list, click on the tag check box, then hit apply.
- To apply multiple tags on an item, select the item in the X1 results list, click on the tags' check boxes, then hit apply.
- Select the option "Select the next result after tagging" if you prefer for X1 to automatically select the next result after you apply a tag.
- To view tags applied to an item, select the item in the X1 results list and view the checkboxes visible in the tag pane.
- To view all items tagged with a particular tag, click on the tag's icon or label in the tag pane.
  -- If your selected search is a local X1 client search, the "All Search" will load with all the items tagged with the selected tag.
  -- If your selected search is an X1 Server search, X1 will send a query and return with all items tagged with the selected tag.
- When tagging X1 Server results, a notification will display while the X1 Server processes the tags. Once the tags are processed a new notification will prompt the user to Search again to obtain the tags from the server.
- To restore tags after clearing index/re-indexing go to Tools/Restore Tags. This option will re-apply tags for items that have not changed location or been modified since the time they were tagged.
- Added Group Policy Object that allows centralized creation of global tags. Global tags display in blue font and cannot be modified by the end user.
Report Interface
- The new report feature provides an expanded query dialog that enables users to enter/edit a list of queries and preview/export result metrics.
- The report interface works for local non-federated searches and for X1 Server searches enabled for reporting.
- X1 will parse query terms entered into the main search box into the report query dialog and separate query terms by top-level OR boundaries into separate rows.
- Column or "Filter" queries will not be editable in the report query dialog.
Local X1 Client Reporting
- Preview the report to display statistics on document count per query before exporting detailed results to csv files.
- Two reports are generated upon clicking the export button: Summary Report and Document Type Report.
- The Summary Report displays the sample information presented in the preview plus a content size metric.
- The Document Type Report displays the breakdown metrics per document type (Files, Email, Attachments, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks) for each query.
- The reports generated are saved to the local disk (see X1 Reports shortcuts in My Documents folder).
X1 Server Reporting
- Report preview is not supported for server searches before exporting detailed results to csv files.
- Two reports are generated upon clicking on the export button: Summary Report and Document Type Report with same properties as for local reports.
- An advanced reporting option is available that enables users to create custom reports.
- The reports generated are saved in a network share specified in the report dialog.
- The report button for server searches only enables for searches enabled for reporting in the X1 server.
Content Export
- The new content export feature provides full content export for files and PST item indexed in the X1 Server.
- Files are exported into full mirror duplicates of the original folder/data structure and maintain timestamps, ACLs and metadata.
- Emails and email attachments are exported into their original folder structure maintaining their family relationship.
- The content export button only enables for searches enabled for content export in the X1 server.
- Content export requires the username/password credentials to be saved in the search source dialog to be used during the export process.
- Once a server search displays results in the X1 client, the content export button will prompt the user to enter a metadata export path and export network path.
- Both the metadata export and content export paths must be empty network shares shared for full access to the user account running the content export.
- The export button will enable once the criteria for both network paths is met and the X1 content export process has successfully launched.
- The X1 content export process starts once the user clicks on the "Content Export" button and is visible in the taskbar.
- The content metadata is exported first from the X1 server into a set of files grouped by distinct server indexes.
- The content export automatically starts once the content metadata is successfully exported and the process displays progress for each of metadata files completed.
- The content export process can be cancelled but cannot be re-started therefore the user must ensure not to hibernate or shut down the computer running the content export until the process is complete.
- The content export process will display a link to failed operations if it fails to export any of the search results.
- Content export will only process query entries in the main search box (column search fields will be ignored).
Resource Utilization
- Content export for large amounts of data will require a dedicated machine and is expected to utilize all available CPU and memory over long time periods.
- If the location of the original files and destination files are in separate computers the content export process will utilize large amounts of network bandwidth.
- The content export feature requires the X1 client to run on the same domain as the X1 server.
Enhanced Search Sessions
- Added "Search Sessions" option in the tools menu that allows users to select/open session logs in a text editor.
- The "Search Sessions" dialog also allows users to verify if the session log has been tampered via the "Verify Log Id" button.
Tagging and Annotation for X1 Client local indexed items
- Tags and Annotations for the desktop client index items are designed for static content email and file repositories.
- Moving emails/modifying files/archiving items will cause the tags to be lost.

New Features/Enhancements in the X1 Professional Client
• Added support for indexing removable drives.
- X1 automatically detects removable media when opening the File Indexing Options dialog.
- X1 displays the removable media either the Volume Name or a generic "Removable Disk".
- Removable media drives are NOT selected for indexing automatically. Users must select them for indexing through the File Indexing Options dialog.
- New buttons in the File Indexing Options dialog allow users to add or remove removable media drives for index selection.
- Once a removable media drive is removed X1 will delete the drive results from the index and will not automatically add the drive to the File Indexing Options list.
- If a removable drive is locked or cannot be written to, X1 will not add it to the File Indexing Options list.
- If a removable drive is removed or not available after initial indexing X1 will maintain the results in the index, but will not display a preview.
- Removable drive contents are indexed through the index schedule defined for files (real-time indexing not supported).
- Added Group Policy Object to allow global administration of this feature.
• Optimized X1 results pane refresh rate.
• Optimized startup performance for single-core computers.
• Implemented 5 minute default X1 indexing delay upon computer startup. The default delay can be modified via a group policy object.
• Added X1 signature for selected Outlook email post search actions.
• Added ability to modify/delete the X1 signature for selected Outlook email post search actions.
• Enhanced search panes allow for greater flexibility in re-sizing/expanding/collapsing the "All Searches" and "Favorite Searches" panes.
• Enhanced viewer controls for documents replaces tabs with replaced with new navigation arrows under the vertical scroll bar.
• Added method to identify items in index where the maximum number of tokens indexed has been reached.
• Added content indexing for embedded files.
• Added "Send Search by Email" action as an option in the search toolbar customization menu.
• Updated method for warning message on disk space required to caution user once the threshold is below 2x the space needed to optimize the index.
• Added new "Copy to NSF" post search action for Lotus Notes emails.
• Added new Group Policy Object to disable warnings for offline vault/PST indexing if these databases are not available.
• Enhanced "Move/Copy" post search actions for Lotus Notes emails with the following new behavior:
- New dialog displays folders (no views).
- User created folders will be created under a root node 'Folders'
- Copy action creates a new DISTINCT copy of the email (not linked) in the target folder.
- Move action moves the email when moving from source folder to new folder.
- Move action creates a linked copy of the email when moving from a view to a new folder.

Bug Fixes
• Fixed a bug that prevented tag lists defined in a deployment manager build to be copied into deployed build.
• Fixed a bug that caused X1 to crash when opening Symantec Enterprise Vault stubs.
• Fixed a bug that caused Microsoft Outlook email profiles to become selected for indexing.
• Fixed a bug that generated an error when performing post search action "Go To Folder" on items from an X1 PST profile.
• Fixed a bug that prevented viewing an Outlook folder in the Folder Selection Dialog under Korean setting in a case.
• Fixed a bug that prevented highlighting from working on CJK characters in msg files.
• Fixed a bug that caused Symantec Enterprise Vault archived attachments to display the wrong information for some stubs.
• Fixed a bug that prevented the search query from executing when pasted via the right click menu.
• Fixed a bug that displayed an incorrect preview for CJK and Cyrillic symbols when indexing the Outlook Global Address Book.
• Fixed a bug that caused the option to "Keep Copies of Email in the Index" to select/deselect in real-time.
• Fixed a bug that prevented emails with "_" to be fully selected for entity actions in the preview pane.

Known Issues - Blackbird Beta II Release
• Downgrading from Blackbird Beta to 6.2.4 or earlier release requires uninstall without saving index/settings.
Lotus Notes
• Send by Email, Add to Contacts, and Schedule Time actions on preview pane do not fill in name/email for Lotus Notes.
• Korean folders are incorrectly displayed in folders tree when under Windows Regional and Language settings are set to Korean.
• Improper font in preview panel for files when under Windows Regional and Language settings are set to Korean.
• Korean characters in Excel tab are displayed in broken characters in the preview pane.
• Zip files with CJK characters in the title are displayed incorrectly in the preview pane.
• Add to Zip PSA does not preserve source file location.
• Delete button does not work when deskbar is undocked.
• Closing X1 leaves "white bar" on desktop at high resolution setting.
• On startup, X1 minimizes to the Taskbar even when told to minimize to system tray.
• Windows Vista: Not completely visible text and buttons in new UI.
• Windows 7: Delay scan settings are grayed out.

X1 Supported Platforms Guide
X1 Technologies goes out of its way to explicitly test our products with a number of third-party products. Our goal is to test and validate that our products work with those products our customers and partners use most frequently. Just because a particular version of the third-party software is not listed on the supported platforms guide does not mean that the product will not work with X1, just that we do not explicitly test that version of the application.
